Samsung announces 11.6-inch, 13.3-inch Chromebook 2
Samsung on Monday announced two new models in its Chromebook range of notebooks dubbed Chromebook 2 in 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch sizes.
As anticipated Both the models of Chromebook 2 Series will be powered by Samsung’s ARM-based Exynos 5 Octa chips. Instead of the sleek, silver-colored plastic used on the handset maker’s previous Chromebook model, the new Chromebook 2 models will sport a new look with a faux-leather finish.
Both models will come with a pebble grain, faux-leather texture, with false stitching along the edges, and a rubberised finish giving it a more leathery feel.
The 13.3-inch Chromebook 2 version, weighing 3.09 pounds, will have a 1,920 x 1,080 HD screen and will be powered by 2.1-GHz Exynos processor, 4GB RAM, 16GB SSD storage, an improved audio system with two 2W speakers and a noise reducing array microphone. Samsung claims its battery can run up to 8.5 hours on a single charge.
The revised 11.6-inch Chromebook 2 version will still come with a 1,366 x 768 screen and apart from an updated processor and better battery life, it will have the same specs as the 13.3-inch model but better than the current model, promising a battery life of up to 8 hours.
While the smaller model will be available in black and white colors, the 13.3-inch version will only be available in “luminous titan gray.”
AirDroid and Wunderlist Pro are some of the software packages that will come preloaded with Samsung’s new models.
The 13.3-incher is priced at $399 and the 11.6-inch one will cost around $320. Both the models will hit market shelves in April.
