(Unofficial) Android 4.4 KitKat for Sony Xperia Z

By  |

Not even a week has passed by since the launch of Android 4.4 KitKat and we are already seeing unofficial yet stable ROMs of the latest Android version for quite a few smartphones including the Sony Xperia Z.

The ROM is said to be stable and almost everything seems to be working just fine including Wi-Fi, audio, image captures and video recording, voice calls, SMS, NFC, GPS, automatic display brightness among other things.

There are a couple of known issues though. First one is to do with a ‘Please Wait…’ message even after the phone is registered to a network. Users will need to hit the home button to make the message vanish. Calendar syncing seems to be the other issue and phone has to be restarted twice before it starts working.

As is the case with custom ROMs, we remind our readers that flashing an unofficial version of a mobile operating system on a handset voids the warranty. Further, those willing to go ahead with the flash anyways, should always backup the contents of their device just to ensure that you have all your data in safe place if something goes wrong during the flashing process.
