Sony’s PlayStation Now beta to land in UK next year

By  |

Sony has announced that its game streaming service PlayStation Now will land in Europe next year with UK to be the first to get the service beta.

Until now, the gaming streaming service has been available as a beta testing phase only in the US and Canada on PlayStation 4.

Sony Europe Chief Executive Jim Ryan confirmed the PlayStation Now’s 2015 UK release while addressing the Gamescom 2014 press conference on Tuesday.

PlayStation Now is Sony’s game streaming service that allows users to play PlayStation 1, 2, and 3 games via a PlayStation 3, 4, Vita, PlayStation TV and selected Sony Bravia TVs. The service was first announced at CES 2014.

Sony said that the unstable internet connection in Europe is the main reason for PlayStation Now to have taken a little more time to cross the ocean. The company is yet to announce pricing and release date details for the streaming service.

During the press conference, Sony also announced the PlayStation TV UK release date. The streaming box will make its way to the UK and Europe on November 14 for €99 (£79). PlayStation TV is a kind of PS Vita without a screen or controls that users can use to play games on via a TV and using a PlayStation 3 or 4 controllers.
