TalkTalk grows huge with over 1.1M customers; extends YouView contract to 2 more years
TalkTalk announced that its budget pay-TV service user base has grown huge to include around 1.1 million customers with 185,000 added in the most recent quarter.
The company said its total revenues increased by more than 3 percent to £434 million in the June ending quarter as compared to profit figures recorded during the same period last year. TalkTalk said it also added 10,000 net broadband customers during the quarter, bringing the total to 4.2 million.
TalkTalk’s Chief Executive, Dido Harding said the company is on the right track to meet its targets for the full year and is expected to achieve a 4 percent revenue growth during 2015. She said she also expects TV subscribers’ number to expand by a similar number with 680,000 added during the financial year.
Harding said TalkTalk’s growth strategy continues to deliver as planned and that the company is delighted to report another quarter of base growth and year-on-year revenue progress.
In the mean time, the broadband company also announced that it has entered into a new multiyear deal with British Sky Broadcasting to extend Sky Sports and Sky Movies distribution to its TV customers.
As part of the deal, TalkTalk customers will now be able to access Sky’s sports and movies channels for the next 2 years on the YouView service. From 12 August onwards, customers will also be able to view brand new channel Sky Sports 5 showcasing up to 600 live European football matches a season, including UEFA Champions League and UEFA EURO 2016.
In addition the agreement also includes new rights for TalkTalk to offer Sky Sports Box Office allowing customers to watch live boxing and wrestling events on a pay-per-view basis.
