Facebook, on Monday, at the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco revealed that around 375 million people on an average play Facebook-connected games each month, across both desktop and mobile.
According to Facebook, users on an average send some 735 million games referrals every day. In an internal study, which looked at how people play games that connect with Facebook, conducted last year in September, it was found that cross-platform players tend to spend more time and money on games than single-platform player.
The study revealed that “mobile engagement for cross-platform players was 2.4 times the engagement of mobile-only players. Facebook desktop engagement for cross-platform players was 1.5 times the engagement of desktop-only players.”
While Criminal Case was crowned last year’s most popular game other game titles including Candy Crush Saga, FarmVille2, Slotomania and DoubleDown Casino were listed in Facebook’s 2013 Hall of Fame.
The social networking giant in its post said “We’re focusing on improving the quality of discovery and engagement for Facebook-connected games. Already, we’ve given developers more compelling ways to showcase their games with App Center videos, created more places within Facebook to recommend great games, and found more ways to give people context about games before they try them”.
Facebook also announced game request improvement which will see developers customising game request language in order to give people more information about what their friends are asking them to do in a game.
For example, request which earlier read as “Alex sent you a request” will now have specific information about the request, such as “Alex asked you for a life.” This will help players better decide whether they want to take any action on the request.
