BlackBerry on Tuesday announced a new update to BlackBerry Messenger that allows users to further personalise and enhance their chat experiences making them look more colorful and expressive.
The new version of the BBM app offers stickers – larger, bolder and more expressive images than emoticons that users can add to their BBM chats.
Some of the sticker packs will be available for free for the BBM users, while others might cost around $1.99. Stickers are now available for download in the BBM store for iOS, Android and BB10 users.
David Proulx, Senior Director of BBM, announcing the update said “Stickers are another great example of how we’re making the BBM experience more engaging and fun for our customers.”
“Stickers let you personalise your chats and strike the right chord with people around the world who rely on stickers in chats when they connect with colleagues, family, friends, peers and partners.”
Each of the sticker packs will contain between 20 and 25 stickers relating to a theme or a character like CosCat, Gilbert’s Tales or Bubble Bot also featuring content from popular brands including Shaun the Sheep and WWE.
With Wrestle Mania 30 coming up soon, Blackberry revealed that WWE is planning to give away a free sticker pack to its fans via BBM. Blackberry also gives a free sticker pack featuring favorite BBM emoticons to all the BBM customers. The company also revealed plans to add new sticker packs on regular basis.
Earlier this month, Blackberry announced that the next update will come with support for larger file sharing and bigger emoticons among other things.
In addition to the stickers, the update will also offer BBM users the ability to share photos in a group chat. Users will now also be able to send high-resolution pictures, videos and even presentations as large as 16MB over BBM.
