Foxconn on Wednesday said it expects to manufacture around 90 million units of Apple’s next iPhone – iPhone 6 – in 2014 with all the orders expected to land across the year.
Although Apple is yet to announce the launch of iPhone 6, analysts predict the smartphone could see an autumn launch this year, probably around the same time when Apple unveils its handset offerings.
The Taiwan-based Foxconn in its press release said “Foxconn is expecting to manufacture 90 million units of the iPhone 6 from Apple in 2014. These orders are expected to land across the year.”
According to some reports global smartphone shipments growth rate figure is expected to be somewhere around 28 percent this year as compared to last year’s 40 percent. Also, smartphone sales in mature markets might stick to around 4 percent, down one percent as compared to 5 percent a year ago.
“Foxconn is expected to post an EPS of New Taiwan Dollar 9.29 ($ 0.31) in 2014 and New Taiwan Dollar 10.26 in 2015,” the mobile component maker added.
Apple’s new flagship device is expected to come with a bigger screen, a 4.7-inch panel with an even denser set of pixels than “traditional” Retina display and cover glass made of sapphire, a material bested only by diamond in terms of toughness.
The press release indicates that both Apple and Foxconn are pretty confident about success of iPhone 6 even before its launch.
