It seems like it’s not all over for Flappy Bird as in a recent interview Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen suggested that he is considering a comeback for the popular game.
The 28-year-old developer, who decided to remove the game from Apple’s App Store last month after he felt that it had become “an addictive product”. In the interview he admitted that is considering bringing the game back to life; however, he said this time the game will come with a “warning” to users, telling them to “please take a break.”
Nguyen said that he pulled back the app in February citing the pressure its success put on his simple life and for the reason of it being-addictive.
He said that he was upset by the fame that surrounded his Flappy Bird success, and took the decision of pulling the app back after considering the messages from game users telling him how the game caused them to flunk exams and lose jobs.
He also revealed that he was making an estimated $50,000 a day from Flappy Bird when it was at its peak. Nguyen said after retiring from his day job, he is still making “tens of thousands of dollars” from the millions of players who downloaded the game before he pulled it.
When asked if Flappy Bird will ever fly again on mobile devices, Nguyen responded: “I’m considering it.”
Nguyen said for now, he is focusing on developing three new games: a cowboy-themed shooter, a flying game called Kitty Jetpack, and an “action chess game” called Checkonaut.
Rolling Stone posted the exclusive interview on its website on Tuesday ahead of publication in its March 27 issue.
