Microsoft has announced an official price cut for the Xbox One in the UK, just in time for a special Titanfall Xbox One bundle.
The price cut will be effective from Friday, February 28 allowing users to buy the Xbox One for £399.99, £30 cheaper than its original retail price of £429. It seems that Microsoft is opting for a price cut after its Xbox One has been consistently outsold by its cheaper rival Sony’s £349 PlayStation 4.
Harvey Eagle, Xbox’s marketing director in the UK, said: “The reason we’re doing this is that we’re committed to giving gamers the best value that we can”.
“We’re only a few months into a generation of consoles that are going to last for many many years to come”.
“And now just feels like the right time to make the adjustment on the price,” he added.
It’s still unclear if the Xbox One will see similar price cuts in other markets as well.
Microsoft also confirmed it is launching a limited edition Titanfall Xbox One bundle on March 11. The bundle offers a standard edition Xbox One console, Kinect sensor, Wireless Controller, Chat Headset, a voucher for a free month of Xbox Live Gold and a digital copy of Titanfall. The bundle is available to pre-order now at participating retailers and will cost $499.99.
Corporate VP of Market, Strategy and Business at Xbox, Yusuf Mehdi, in a press statement, said, “To celebrate the launch of Titanfall, we wanted to do something special”.
“If you’ve been waiting for the biggest game of the generation before purchasing your Xbox One, this special, limited time offer is perfect for you.”
