Tesco Mobile has announced free 4G LTE Mobile Broadband for new and existing pay-monthly contract and SIM-only customers.
The company is offering new users with 250 minutes, 5,000 texts and 500MB data on a 4G SIM-only tariff starting £7.50 a month. Existing customers will receive a credit from their next monthly installment as the £2.50 surcharge for 4G has been removed.
Tesco Mobile, the first virtual network to offer 4G in October last year and bases its services off an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) deal with O2, seems to follow the footsteps of ‘Three’ in offering 4G LTE Mobile Broadband at no extra cost.
Simon Groves, chief marketing officer at Tesco Mobile, said:
Introducing free 4G is a clear example of our intention to provide all of our customers with the very best at no extra cost.
As a network we hope that this move will challenge others in the market and encourage the industry to follow suit. We want to see 4G with no extra cost become the norm and networks making the very latest technologies accessible for all.
Tesco Mobile has also confirmed that 4G data bundles for Pay As You Go subscribers will be launched in the coming weeks. According to the sources, Tesco Mobile is also aiming at expanding its lineup of 4G ready smartphones and is most likely to offer the new Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and Motorola Moto X handsets.
