HP may unveils a sub-$200 Android smartphone targeted at potential customers in emerging markets as early as next week, new reports have claimed.
Citing unnamed sources, 9tot5Google is reporting of a possibility of entry-level Galaxy Note-like device from HP by next week, but delays are likely. The report claims that HP’s new SVP Mobility Alberto Torres is heading the team which has been working on the smartphone for over a year and a half now.
HP has been planning to release a smartphone for a long time now and as Meg Whitman earlier ruled out the possibility of a 2013 launch, early 2014 unveil is quite likely.
There have been no leaks that could point us to the specifications of HP’s new smartphone, but according to the report the smartphone could very well be Galaxy Note-like device with stripped down specs. Chances of a smartphone with 720p display and less PPI hasn’t been ruled out and the device could be have a screen size of anywhere between 5.5-inch and 6.4-inch.
