HTC One smartphones are back in sale as Court of Appeals has granted HTC a stay on the injunction that was imposed after it was found that HTC was in violation of one of the patents held by Nokia.
The ruling has come at a time when HTC would have wanted it the most considering that Christmas holiday season is just around the corner. Distributors and Resellers can start reordering their HTC One range of smartphones just in time for the holiday sales.
HTC is delighted with the decision and in a statement has said: “We will immediately resume shipment of all of our devices into the UK, including the entire HTC One family.”
The Taiwanese smartphone maker has revealed that it will not only contest the ‘validity’ of the ruling, but will also seek for an alternative to the chip currently used in its smartphones to ensure that such situations and issues don’t surface again.
“Even though we plan to aggressively appeal the validity decision of Nokia’s EP 0 998 024 patent, we will continue to work with our chip suppliers on alternative solutions to ensure minimal disruption to our business in the future”, HTC said.
Previously the court ruled that HTC violates one of the patents EP 0 998 024 held by Nokia, which relates to the manner in which smartphones send and receive data.
