Over 124 million Argos customers will now be able to access free Wi-Fi service across its 735 UK stores courtesy O2 Wi-Fi.
Regardless of network, customers will be able to use the in-store Wi-Fi service for free after they sign up to the service once. Customers will then be able to avail the service at any Argos store or across 9,000 O2 Wi-Fi hotspot venues and at partner sites including McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Costa, All Bar One and O’Neills pub chains.
Argos claims that through the free O2 Wi-Fi it will be able to better service its customers while also sharing online content including enhanced photography, extended ranges and product videos. Argos claims that customers will now be able to access its online stores while on the move.
“We have seen strong growth in mobile transactions with sales through mobile devices now accounting for 16 percent of our total sales. We know there is a strong appetite from our customers to have the convenience of accessing their devices on the move, in a way that suits them,” said John Walden, managing director of Argos.
O2’s deal with Argos follows the one it signed with Subway which involved rolling out of its Wi-Fi service in one thousand sandwich shops in the UK and Ireland, which will be extended to another 600 before the end of the year.
