LG has officially unveiled its 6-inch curved OLED G Flex to rival Samsung Galaxy Round and will be available in South Korea only for now.
With no information on international availability, G Flex is probably LG’s move to gauge consumer appetite for curved / flexible display smartphones like Samsung. Specification wise, the G Flex has a 720p screen, and not a full HD one, with overall thickness ranging from 7.9 and 8.7mm at various points. Powered by the Snapdragon 800 SoC clocked at 2.26GHz, the smartphone packs 2GB RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera, a massive 3500mAh battery, 32GB internal storage and microSD card slot.
Beyond these specs, the G Flex comes with full connectivity suite including Korea’s LTE-A. The G Flex surprisingly runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and not 4.3; however, the smartphone does run LG’s proprietary UI. Like the LG G2, the G Flex also has rear-mounted volume buttons.
LG claims that the UI has been modified to complement the ergonomic design and will wrap around users’ cheeks when they make calls. LG also claims that the G Flex has a Wolverine like “self-healing” ability because of which the protective film, which is designed to get rid of the scratches.
