Retailers in UK are fighting it out for dominance in the low-cost Android tablet space with Carphone Warehouse slashing the price of its Avoca 7 by 50 percent – now offering it for as low as £49 – undercutting the recently announced Argos MyTablet and Tesco Hudl.
The Avoca 7 tablet isn’t state of the art tablet that is among the most wanted tablet list; however, its specifications are none-too-shabby either as compared to the other white-box tablets out there which you will find on eBay.
The 7-inch tablet is powered by a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 8GB internal storage with expandability up to 32GB using a microSD card slot, runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and has a 800x480p resolution. The tablet also supports video calling – thanks to its 0.3-Megapixel front-facing camera. Carphone Warehouse claims that Avoca 7 has a battery life of 8 hours.
Avoca 7 was priced at £99 before the reduction and it seems that the move is to garner as many buyers as possible over the holiday season and will be on offer till stocks last.
The price-cut brings up a couple of question for consideration? Was Carphone Warehouse earing over £50 on each tablet sold? Are tablets this cheap to make? Or Is this false economy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
