Apple has confirmed its October 22 event and is expected to release to release its new tablets iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5 in the same colours as the iPhone 5S and a recent leak all but confirms the gold iPad.
Apple’s new iPad and iPad Mini are expected to come in the same colourways as the iPhone 5S with a leaked image all but confirming the existence of a third colour – gold.
Apple has sent out invites for its October 22 event with a tag line that reads “we still have a lot to cover.” It is expected that Cupertino will also release Mac OS X Mavericks and MacBook Pro refreshes alongside the new tablets at the event to be held at The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
Just before the invites were sent out, CTech released a rather vague image of a gold version of both the tablets indicating that Apple is indeed keen on bringing golden colour to the main stream. The gold leak follows the earlier reports of silver and space grey iPads.
Apple is expected to take a page from the iPad Mini design for its iPad 5 giving it a more flattened look with a narrower bezel. There have been reports that Apple will split the volume buttons in the new full sized iPad, speakers will be moved to the bottom while placing an extra mic at the rear. We expect Apple to power iPad 5 with its latest A7 64-bit processor supplemented by an M7 co-processor, Retina display and TouchID.
iPad Mini 2 on the other hand, if announced, has to have a Retina display to compete with the latest Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HDX. If Apple does announce Retina iPad Mini 2 and if earlier reports indicating shortage of Retina panels are true, Cupertino may have a hard time fulfilling orders during the holiday season.
