An Xbox One supplier has said that fans should expect a wearable from Microsoft that will work specifically with Redmond’s gaming console as early as 2015.
Microsoft recently released its ‘Microsoft Band’ wearable that not only works with Windows Phone, but also with Android and iOS devices and to strengthen its position in the segment, the company is looking to release an Xbox One-syncing wearable by 2015.
While speaking with PCR, Joe Officer, head of Xbox One component supplier Exertis said that the wearables industry should expect a range of devices from Microsoft in 2015 with at least one of them working directly with Xbox One.
Xbox One already has quite a few fitness and health related apps and “Add that to real time heart rate monitors, health bands, scales and video sensors and users will have day-in, day-out, real time monitoring of themselves”, Officer added.
Microsoft has already signaled ways (products and services) through which it will try to increase Xbox One user engagement and without naming specifics Xbox One head Phil Spencer has already hinted at the possibilities of Virtual Reality (VR) on Xbox One.
“New technologies invite us to explore new gaming worlds,” Spencer had said at the time.
“I believe that Kinect, voice and virtual reality are those key new elements. We’re also working on an investment of our own, but it’s not at a stage in which we can talk about it yet.”
