Smartphone maker Jolla has unveiled its first tablet dubbed ‘the Jolla Tablet’ with Sailfish OS 2.0 on board.
Interestingly, the company has turned to crowd funding platform Indiegogo to raise funding for its new Jolla Tablet. First 2,000 backers can pre-order the tablet for a price starting at $189, while the next 1,000 bookers will get the tablet for $199. The company aims to raise $380,000 in the next 21 days to develop the Jolla Tablet, with first batch expected to ship in June next year.
The Jolla Tablet IndieGoGo campaign has managed to gather more than $250,000 from their initial goal of $380,000 at the time of writing with 21 days still left to go. Looking at the figures, it seems the campaign is likely to hit its target soon.
As per the specifications are concerned, the Jolla Tablet features a 7.9-inch 2048×1536 pixels display with a density of 330ppi, and is powered by a 1.8GHz Intel quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM.
The tablet packs 5-megapixel camera, 2-megapixel front camera, 32GB internal storage, microSD card slot and 4,300mAh battery. The tablet will come running Jolla’s own open-source SailFish OS, which can run Android apps as well as native software.
Connectivity options on the tablet include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, and as mentioned above, it runs on Sailfish OS 2.0. The Jolla tablet sports dimensions of 203x137x8.3mm, and weighs 384 grams.
The crowd funding offer is open to people in the US, EU, India, China, Hong Kong and Russia.
