Microsoft has addressed the frustration of its Office 365 subscribers after it freed up editing functions on its Office for iOS apps by allowing those with Office 365 Home and Personal subscription to apply for a refund.
Microsoft recently updated its iOS Office apps including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and along with the update freed the core editing functionality of the apps thereby removing the requirement of purchasing an Office 365 subscription.
This left many users angry as they were already using paid subscriptions to avail the editing features of the apps. In a bid to appease this group of users, Microsoft has revealed its decision of refunding Office 365 home and personal subscriptions on pro-rata basis. Office 365 Business subscribers won’t have the option of availing the refund.
The refund process, which will take anywhere between six to eight weeks, does involve a primary requirement. Users should have purchased the subscription on or after March 27, 2014 and should have been active as of November 6. Further users will be required to request the refund as it won’t be automatically applicable.
Users who opted for the subscription through Apple will be required to contact iTunes Store Support to work out a refund.
Those who bought the subscription through either Microsoft or a third-party reseller will be required to contact a Microsoft agent for the refund. Further, you can combine your refund requests in case you have multiple subscriptions on your name.
