Apple hasn’t budged an inch over the latest set of iPad launch event rumours, which according to several publications is slated for October 22.
Just yesterday we reported (via AllThingsD) that sources close to Apple and aware about the upcoming iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5 launch have revealed that Apple will be hosting a major event on October 22. It is believed that alongside the new iPads, Apple will also announce public launch of OS X Mavericks and Haswell refreshes of Mac Pro.
According to recent leaks iPad 5 will be featuring a thinner and lighter design, will be powered by the all-new A7 64-bit processor, better camera and possibly TouchID. Apple is likely to launch the iPad 5 in an additional Space Gray colour as well. iPad Mini 2 on the other hand is believed to pack Retina display along with other usual refinements one would normally see in an upgrade.
Apple didn’t announce any of its upcoming iPads at the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C launch event. Further, it is highly unlikely for Apple to miss out on upgrading its tablets for a whole year and that leads us to believe that rumoured October 22 event may happen after all. However, Cupertino is neither denying nor confirming the rumours stating that it doesn’t comment on future products about which it hasn’t disclosed anything.
Nokia World 2013, public launch of Surface 2 are slated for the same day and if Apple actually announces an iPad launch event for October 22, it will likely gatecrash Nokia-Microsoft party.
