Apple’s rumoured October 22 event, if held, will not only overshadow the public launch of Surface 2 tablets, but will also take away all the buzz from the Nokia World scheduled on the same day in Abu Dhabi.
As reported earlier, Apple is likely to announce its iPad Mini 2, iPad 5 tablets and Mac Pro Haswell refreshes on October 22. The reports of an October 22 event first appeared on AllThingsD which claimed that sources familiar with the matter have laid bare Apple’s plans of an October 22 event. The time and place of the event are still unknown though!
Apple is known for its thunder-stealing event planning that coincide with major events from other vendors. This year itself its September 10 launch of iPhone 5S and 5C garnered greater attention than the IFA Berlin event where Samsung launched its Note 3 phablet and Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Last year’s iPad Mini event was held just three days before the launch of first generation Surface tablets.
Nokia World event on October 22 is likely to witness launch of six different devices including the highly awaited Lumia 1520 and the Finnish company’s first Windows RT tablet – the Lumia 2520 aka Sirius.
If Apple’s event does happen, it will steal away a lot of thunder from Nokia and Microsoft – who are both trying to make a mark for themselves in the tablet arena.
