New reports have claimed that Gold variant of Apple Watch, which is to go on sale in early 2015, could cost as much as $1,200 or more.
According to a report on TechCruch, which cites jewellers, the 18-karat Apple Watch Edition versions price would be in the region of $1,200 a piece. Apple hasn’t revealed whether it will be simply gold plating its Apple Watch or will make them using gold alloy and these estimates are based on assumption that Apple will dole out a solid gold watch.
Jewellers however say that they would like to see the watch made in solid gold or an alloy of gold. Chad Rickicki, an expert on watch said that to make a watch in solid gold it would cost Apple around $600 a piece; that without internal components.
