It seems like curved display smartphones are soon going to create buzz globally as just weeks after Samsung announced that it will be announcing a curved glass smartphone this month, LG too is reportedly planning to launch one of its own curved screen smartphone.
According to reports, LG is working on its new G Flex handset which will feature a 6-inch, curved OLED display made using LG’s new Plastic OLED (POLED) technology. Curved display does not mean that the users will be able to bend their smartphones – it simply means that the phone will feature a slightly curved display which will not be bendable.
LG showed off its curved display technology back in May after which it showcased a 55-inch OLED TVs and a 5-inch plastic OLED panel at a trade show recently. Apple is reportedly also in the race to develop a curved display equipped smartwatch. Television sets with curved display are already available in the market. LG Electronics and its leading rival Samsung have already started selling curved OLED TV sets priced at around $9000 this year.
LG is probably one of the busiest vendors now a days considering that it has production demands to meet with for the recently announced G2 and those of the unannounced Nexus 5.
