New reports have claimed that Microsoft will go all the way and offer Windows XP and Vista laggards a deal of their lifetime if they wish to move to newer platforms – a free upgrade to Windows 9 when it is released!
Windows 9 is expected to be released in Spring 2015 and before that Windows 8.1 is likely to see one more update in August. However, according to some reports Microsoft may deter from releasing another update for Windows 8.1 after the August update in order to concentrate on Windows 9.
ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley, citing rumours, notes in her report that Microsoft is willing to offer deals to Windows XP and Vista users in the form of free upgrades in a bid to kickstart a transition from older platforms to latest version of OS and to ensure that the only group that is using Windows XP is the high-support paying enterprises.
Windows 8.1 update 2 isn’t going to be a major one and it won’t be mandatory either. The update is expected to pack some minor feature enhancements and mostly design changes that won’t make a whole lot of difference.
Microsoft will be concentration on Windows 9 aka Threshold and the OS is expected to bring in some great features including the much liked and wanted start menu.
