Ending the list of rumours and speculations, Samsung has finally officially announced the arrival of its flagship device Galaxy S5’s smaller version dubbed the Galaxy S5 Mini.
Announcing the launch, Samsung UK marketing director Ines Van Gennip claims the new Galaxy S5 Mini to be the best option for all those looking for a stylish, smaller smartphone with the latest features and technology.
The S5 mini comes in a sleek and compact body and blends the iconic design and essential features of the Galaxy S5. The handset with a comparatively smaller screen will easily slip into the user’s pocket or bag, Gennip said.
The Galaxy S5 Mini features a decent- sized 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display as compared to its 5.1-inch flagship sibling.
The features which S5 Mini inherits from its sibling include the fingerprint scanner, heart rate monitor and the IP67 water and dust resistant chassis.
Powered by Samsung’s 1.4GHz quad-core processor, the S5 Mini packs 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory further expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. The device features an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash, a 2.1-megapixel front camera and a 2100mAh battery with Ultra Power Saving Mode.
The Galaxy S5 mini runs Android 4.4 KitKat and measures 131.1 x 64.8 x 9.1mm, weighing 120 grams. The phone will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold variants.
Although a release date is yet to be announced, the Korean manufacturer has confirmed the handset to be first launched in Russia. There’s no word yet on the handset’s UK release, pricing and availability.
