The weight loss pill hackers are back and this time targeting Pinterest accounts, while sneaking into some Twitter accounts too allegedly using the social login option enabled by users.
Several Pinterest feeds were spammed with posts about an Asian fruit that is claimed to help lose weight quickly, which was spread to Twitter also. The spillover was due to the third party log in feature in Pinterest, which allows users to sign-up with their Twitter accounts.
“An Asian fruit that burns fat for you?? Yes please!”, read some Pins. And, some Pins went a step further saying, “I’m 12 pounds lighter as of today!!!”, while some read, “15 pounds lighter as of today!!!”
Some users gained back access and posted on Twitter –
“I see soooo many pinterest accounts being hacked today, judging by my feed. Be careful when you click links!”
“September ’13 @Pinterest was hacked, didn’t bothered to reset my password! Suffered TWITTER DIET SPAM now! fixed it!”
“Hope you enjoyed all those great weight loss tips. My Pinterest was hacked.”
Users are advised not to allow suspicious apps to access their accounts. It is also advised to use a unique password for each service while also making sure the passwords are alphanumeric to make it difficult for hackers to crack them.
Several users have warned others through pins and tweets, not to click on spam links and to reset their passwords.
Pinterest said, “The security of Pinners is a top priority. We were alerted to some instances of spam and responded by immediately placing impacted accounts in safe mode, and reaching out to Pinners as we solved the issue. We’re constantly working on ways to keep Pinners safe through reactive and proactive steps, as well as educating them on the importance of using complex and unique passwords.”
I was over weight and tried so many things. Different things work for different people and I was lucky enough to find one that worked for me. I lost 18 pounds in one month without much exercise and it’s been a life changer. I’m a little embarrased to post my before and after photos here but if anyone actually cares to hear what I’ve been doing then I’d be happy to help in any way. Just shoot me an email at secretosdelara@gmail.com and I’ll show you my before and after photos, and tell you about how things are going for me with the stuff I’ve tried. I wish someone would have helped me out when I was struggling to find a solution so if I can help you then it would make my day
