Galaxy Round was just the start for flexible devices, as Samsung is planning to launch its first foldable tablet sporting an 8 to 9-inch OLED full HD display in 2015, claims a new report from the Korean shores.
The concept of foldable devices is nothing new and rumour mills have churned out a number of stories in the last few years. The latest bullet point adding to the rumour list suggests that Samsung has developed several prototypes, with the launch of final table, convertible into smartphone as soon as early next year.
The Korean site, Duam reports, (spotted by Android Authority) that Samsung is working on a tablet with 8 to 9-inch flexible screen, which can be folded inward twice, converting it into a smartphone-like device.
This falls in line with the previous Samsung patents for a foldable tablet, which was reportedly granted earlier this year. There weren’t more information about the patent either. A similar prototype was also rumoured to have been showcased back at MWC 2014, suggesting the new report to be true. However, Samsung has not yet officially confirmed the report, so it’s better to take the news with a grain of salt.
Samsung reportedly has a number of devices in the flexible category under wraps like the upcoming Galaxy Note phablet, speculated the feature three sided YOUM display. Rumours have it that the Galaxy Note 4 tablets could set the stage for the company’s roll out of much advanced foldable displays.
Samsung is expected to reveal more information about the foldable tablet in the Galaxy Premiere 2014 event today.
