Three announced that it is expanding its “Feel at Home” scheme, to 5 more countries – France, Finland, Israel, Norway, and Switzerland starting July 1, making it a total of 16 countries.
The 5 new countries where customers can enjoy calling, texting and accessing the internet all at the same price, are added to the list of 11 countries including US, Indonesia, Italy, Macau, Australia, Austria, Sweden, Hong Kong, Denmark, the Republic of Ireland, and Sri Lanka.
Dave Dyson, Chief Executive at Three said, “Roaming charges are a rip-off and Three is tackling the issue head-on.”
“We haven’t just reduced charges; we’ve now scrapped them in 16 destinations, making it fairer, easier and more enjoyable to use your phone abroad. I want customers to stay connected when they’re overseas without the fear of a nasty bill when they return.”
“The addition of five more countries, including France, to Feel At Home is another big step and one that marks our determination to eliminate roaming rates full-stop.”
Three’s Feel At Home scheme is available for all its existing and new customers (after a period of 30 days with the network), on mobile broadband, pay as you go as well as pay monthly plans.
However, when users go over the limits offered by the service, their calls, data usage and texts will be charged as per the roaming plan, which the provider claims to cheaper comparatively.
It is clear that the company is gradually doing away with roaming but in baby steps. It’s only a matter of time before the service becomes completely free of roaming charges.
