Apple has updated its App Store Distribution developer webpage to include new distribution statistics for major iOS versions. As per data collected and measured over the seven day period ending, July 13, nearly 90 percent of devices visiting the iOS App Store were running iOS 7.
The ten months old mobile operating system has reported a three percent increase in adoption rate as compared to 87 percent recorded back in April.
While there was boost in iOS 7 adoption rate, share of Apple’s last-generation iOS 6, dropped slightly, going from 11 percent in April to 9 percent as of July 13. The earlier mobile operating versions accounted for only two percent of total devices in use.
The increase in iOS 7 adoption indicates more and more iOS device users have updated their mobiles with the current mobile operating system. However, the numbers does not break down as to which version of iOS 7 users are specifically running.
The Cupertino has also revealed it is also soon going to launch the next iOS iteration, version 8.0 this fall.
The upcoming software update is expected to feature a couple of significant new improvements including a new Health app, major enhancements to Siri, interactive notifications, third-party keyboard support, ephemeral messaging as well as several new continuity features that will allow for high-level interaction with Apple’s upcoming OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
