Launch of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gave it the required thrust to leapfrog Call of Duty: Black Ops’ revenue and claim the title of UK’s best selling game ever.
Having managed to more or less equal the revenue figures of Call of Duty: Black Ops with its PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, GTA V has now been officially declared as the country’s best selling game. The game also managed to top UK all formats chart – unsurprisingly.
“In terms of all time units ‘GTA V’ was right behind ‘Black Ops’, so much so that just the Tuesday sales of ‘GTA V’ on PS4/XO were enough to also claim the all-time unit sales record in the UK”, Gfk Chart-Track announced.
GTA V wasn’t the only title releasing on November 18 as Ubisoft broke its Friday launch tradition for the release of Far Cry 4, but that didn’t hamper the sales number of GTA V.
Far Cry 4 managed to bad the second spot in UK all formats chart to unseat last weeks second Assassin’s Creed: Unity, which has fallen four places to sixth.
Because of launch of GTA V and owing to 41 per cent decline in sales week-over-week, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare had to suffice with the third spot. FIFA 15 managed to hold onto its fourth spot thanks to a 25 per cent surge in sales.
WWE 2K15 managed to finish seventh from twentieth spot thakns to the new Gen 8 versions of the game. Another upwards mover was the Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor thanks to the new gen 7 versions of the game.
