Nearly after 7 years, Bioshock, the award-winning first-person shooter built for diehard gamers, will finally make its way to the iOS devices later this summer.
2K Games on Monday announced in on Twitter with a tweet that asked the Bioshock fans to get ready for a “return to Rapture,” with a picture of the game.
Launched in 2007, Bioshock kicked off the franchise of 3 successful titles – BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite – available on PC, Mac as well as consoled.
The iOS version of Bioshock is said to be compatible only with the latest devices including iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad Mini 2, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. The game is expected to be available by the end of 2014, though 2K games hasn’t revealed any release time-frame. Details about pricing are also yet to be revealed, but it is speculated to cost anywhere between $10 and $15 per download.
Bioshock is set in an underwater city named Rapture, said to be one of the most fascinating and hauntingly beautiful location ever conceived, which was constructed by Andrew Ryan, a business magnate of the 1940s. However, gamers only get to enter the city after two decades – in 1960s – before which a class war has left the city in a not-so-good shape. There would be a slew of weapons lying around which help gamers to attack in different ways.
The game is expected to be tweaked with touch-enabled controls for the iOS platform. The new version of Rapture is also said to have been shrunken down to fit within the App store’s file size limitation.
