Activision has claimed that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is ‘the biggest entertainment launch of 2014’ and the game has helped the franchise to top $10 billion in lifetime sales.
The company didn’t reveal the exact sales figures of CoD: Advanced Warfare, but the company did say that the sales of the game were higher compared to last year’s CoD: Ghosts launch week.
Activision has based its numbers from reports of gross movie, music, and book sales; publicly-available data; retail sales information; and internal Activision estimates.
Activision Blizzard’s CEO Bobby Kotick went onto claim that the worldwide sales of the franchise has far exceeded combined receipts of movie franchises including the Hunger Games, Transformers, Iron Man and Avengers.
CEO of Activision Publishing Eric Hirshberg added that they have received positive reviews and response from fans across the globe and “We believe Advanced Warfare will be the most successful game of the year and we thank our fans for making it the biggest entertainment launch of the year.”
Lack of exact sales numbers forces us to speculate that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare may not have received the welcome Activision had anticipated.
