Watch Dogs coming to Wii U in fall 2014

The Wii U version of Ubisoft’s open-world action game Watch Dogs will launch this fall, claims a new report.

The North American version of the Uplay shop had the game listed with a “Fall 2014” date, which is now removed. The listing spotted by Nintendo Enthusiast, was confirmed by a US Ubisoft representative.

According to the Nintendo Enthusiast report, “Now, while unconfirmed by the publisher, Ubisoft’s North American Uplay store says the game is targeting a Fall 2014 release window for the Wii U system.”

The European Uplay store as well as the Australian Uplay store still lists the Wii U version for May 27 release along with the other platforms PS4, PS3, PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One – although this is likely an error.

Watch Dogs was previously scheduled for a release in November, last year, in North America and Europe on all platforms. Ubisoft announced the delay in October, alongside the statement that the publisher would “not compromise on quality.” But, it was believed to have several other reasons.

Back in March, Ubisoft revealed that Watch Dogs would be coming to PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on May 27 through a trailer. However, there wasn’t a word about a Wii U version of the game.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot explained that the delayed was to “focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft.” The company also assured gamers that the Watch Dogs had not been cancelled, but a date for the Wii U release could not be provided yet.

For now, as the “Fall 2014? window hasn’t been officially announced by Ubisoft, gamers will have to take it with a grain of salt.
