Chromecast to get Rdio, Beats Music apps

Chromecast will soon get more apps including the likes of Rdio and Beats Music as both companies have announced through Twitter that they are currently developing their Chromecast-compatible apps that will stream music through subscribers’ TVs.

“Our team is already working on developing support for Chromecast. Stay tuned!” tweeted Rdio.

“Hi there, great suggestion. We’re working with Google to add Chromecast. Upvote this feature here: http://spr.ly/60125Br2 -tt”, tweeted Beats Music Support.

Google opened Chromecast Software Development Kit (SDK) to all developers just a couple of days back enabling them to create their own applications for the streaming media stick and today we learned through TNW that Chromecast will be available in the UK tentatively from March 1 through electronics retailer Currys.

Spotify on the other hand hasn’t decided on whether to support Chromecast or not, but has acknowledged that they are receiving a lot of requests for an app. Spotify may have taken a decision as is evident from an update on its Ideas Message board.

“… due to several prevailing priorities we’re going to have to say “not right now” to this idea”, reads the update; however, Spotify hasn’t officially released a statement yet.

Chromecast currently has apps such as Netflix, YouTube, HBO GO, Hulu Plus, Songza, RealPlayer Cloud, and Google Play TV, movies, and music streaming among others.
