Wii U will dominate Xbox One, PlayStation 4 this Christmas claims retailer
Nintendo’s Wii U will actually outsell Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this Christmas, Play.com owner Rakuten has claimed.
This is something that hard to digest, but Rakuten expects the Wii U and iPad to sell more units than the recently released PlayStation 4 and Xbox One despite the fact that PlayStation 4 has sold over 2.1 million units globally and Xbox One has sold at least a million units.
Rakuten told MCV that it has observed 75 percent increase in sales of Wii U during October and believes that the trend will continue right through till Christmas.
Further, the retailer also claimed that its analysis of Twitter indicate that Wii U and iPad are “the most talked about presents for children this Christmas” and “brand new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles are trailing in second and third place respectively behind the Wii U and iPad.”
This is despite the fact that the sales numbers for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 were no different at Play.com than at other retailers and they were sold out on Black Friday.
Rakuten’s claims seem to be over the top considering that Nintendo itself has revealed that Wii U hasn’t worked for the company, while analysts have claimed that Nintendo won’t be able to reach its expected sales target.
