Panasonic launches new Firefox OS powered smart TV range in Europe
Panasonic has announced its new range of Mozilla Firefox OS powered smart TVs has hit the European markets and will be available worldwide in the coming months.
The Panasonic 2015 Smart TV lineup includes six models – CR850, CR730, CX800, CX750, CX700 and CX680. The Firefox smart TV platform offers HTML5 support for Web apps and an intuitive and customizable user interface that lets customers quickly access their favorite channels, apps, websites and content on other devices. With devices using a Firefox browser or Firefox OS it’s possible to stream content to the TV.
Panasonic’s 2015 Ultra HD lineup includes both curved and flat screen models as well as displays that support high dynamic range and wide color gamuts.
Announcing the launch, Masahiro Shinada, Director of the TV Business Division at Panasonic Corporation said “Through our partnership with Mozilla and the openness and flexibility of Firefox OS, we have been able to create a more user friendly and customizable TV UI. This allows us to provide a better user experience for our consumers providing a differentiator in the Smart TV market.”

Price of the TVs vary depending on the model, with the 40-inch CX680 costing £790, for instance, while the 50-inch CX700 is selling for £999.
