Exploding Apple gadgetry in Australia wasn’t iPad Air after all
Recent reports about an exploding Apple iPad Air in a Vodafone store in Australia may not be entirely true as it is claimed that the device involved was an earlier iPad and not the new iPad Air.
Late last week saw all major media outlets having a field day with reports that an iPad Air exploded in an Australian Vodafone shop resulting into smoke and flames up until the fire department came to the rescue.
However, the reports are not at all accurate according to Mashable, which managed to talk to multiple Vodafone spokespeople. “It was an earlier generation iPad with Retina display model — not one of the more recently launched devices. Apple is investigating the cause,” said one of the spokesperson.
“Can confirm it was not an Air; all I know it was a Retina model, so a 3 or 4,” said another. The spokesperson added that Apple has taken the device in question for investigation and Vodafone wouldn’t know anything more up until Apple completes its investigation and reveals the actual reason behind the incident.
Those looking to buy iPad Air needn’t worry as the new flagship tablet isn’t at the center of the incident. Apple hasn’t commented on this yet.
