Google banking upon Huawei for its next Nexus device, new report claims

Reports suggest Google has chosen Huawei to be its new Nexus smartphone manufacturing partner.

Kevin Yang, the Director of China Research at iSuppli, a leading market research firm, has confirmed on Weibo that Google has already inked the deal with Huawei to manufacture the next Nexus smartphone version, Gizmo China reports.

If the report turns out to be true, then this would be the first time that Google would be employing a Chinese manufacturer for the new Nexus. Previous Nexus models were made by Samsung, HTC and LG. Details about the new Nexus device were not mentioned.

As per the report, the main reason for Google choosing Huawei could be it being the biggest competitor to Xiaomi, as of for now.

There are even rumors which suggest that Google will also partner with LG for a Nexus device that will be released later this year. This means that there are chances that Nexus fans may get two phone choices in 2015- one mid-tier Nexus from Huawei and one high-end version from LG.

As Yang could not present any evidence to support his claim, it would be best to take the news with a grain of salt for now.
