Facebook rolls out business-focused ‘Facebook at Work’
Facebook has rolled out a test version of its new product dubbed ‘Facebook at Work’ which will let professional users send message to their colleagues, connect with professional contacts and collaborate over documents.
The new business-focused app will look and feel very much like its existing social network– with the same news feed, search, groups, events, messenger and photo and video sharing functions– the only difference will be that the former will allow users to keep their personal and professional profiles separate.
“Facebook at Work is a separate experience that gives employees the ability to connect and collaborate efficiently using Facebook tools – many that they’re likely already using such as News Feed, Groups, messages and events,” the social network said in a statement.
“The information shared among employees is only accessible to people in the company.”
The social network giant has assured that an employee’s Facebook at Work information will remain “safe, secure, confidential and completely separate from their personal Facebook profile.”
Currently, the Facebook at Work app is free-to-use; however it can only be accessed by a few companies collaborating with the social network.
The new app currently appears in Apple’s online app store and the Google Play shop for Android-powered mobile devices. A desktop version of the new service is also available and can be accessed via a user’s main Facebook account.
The app is expected to witness a public launch sometime later this year.
