Samsung has officially announced that the latest version of its Galaxy Note smart phone dubbed the Galaxy Note 4 will soon hit market shelves in South Korea and China this week. The Note 4 will be available for purchase in the UK on Friday October 10.

The Korean smartphone maker said the new Galaxy Note 4, which was initially scheduled for launch in October, would be made available in South Korea and China starting September 26 before heading to another 140 nations by the end of October.

This is the first time that Samsung has released a flagship smartphone first in China before hitting other major overseas markets. It is rumored that Samsung’s decision to bring forward Galaxy Note 4’s launch date came after rival Apple reported it sold a whopping 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units in the opening weekend.

Interestingly, Samsung’s decision to launch the new Galaxy smartphone in China reflects the smartphone maker’s desire to battle growing competition from cheaper Chinese-made rivals as well as rival Apple which is yet to launch its new iPhone iteration in China.

Powered by a 2.7Ghz octa-core processor, Samsung’s upcoming flagship phablet features a massive 5.7 inches of QHD Super AMOLED at 571ppi, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage as standard operating on Android KitKat.

The phablet will come equipped with a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera featuring a Smart Optical Image Stabilizer that counter-balances camera shake and automatically extends exposure time in dark settings and a 3.7 megapixel front-facing camera with f1.9 which offers a default 90 degree shooting angle and up to 120 degree wide angle best for taking selfies.

A 3,220mAh battery fuels the device with connectivity features including WiFi, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0 and 4G LTE. The Note 4 features S-pen stylus which allows users to draw and write on the screen and perform various tasks simultaneously.
