Apple iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders biggest ever in history

Ahead of its September 19 release date, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been sold in record numbers in pre-orders, according to the reports.

In Britain, the pre-order commenced 8 am on Friday which is the same as midnight in US west coast and 3 am in the east. The response to iPhone 6 Plus has been enormous with month-long back orders in many regions.

An Apple statement said, “Response to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has been incredible with a record number of pre-orders overnight.” The company, however, refrained from revealing how many devices were actually sold on the opening day of pre-order.

Delivery schedules is said to depend on the dealer and the model ordered. Recent reports suggest that the shipments of the pre-orders are delayed up to 4-5 weeks.

It seems like to get their hands on the device on the launch day, buyers will have to walk to the local store, stand in line and purchase the device, if it’s not sold out.

Reports say that enthusiasts had encountered difficulty for with the official Apple site, which reportedly crashed several times, since the pre-order started. Booking through Verizon and Sprint is however said to have gone smoothly.

Market watchers say that iPhone 6 could potentially be the biggest ever launch for Apple and the company is reported to have asked partner manufacturers to collectively produce about 80 million units before December this year.
