Apple extends AppleCare+ cover to international travellers

By  |

Parallel to the launch of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, Apple updated the terms of its AppleCare+ service under which users will now be able to get their iPhones, iPads & iPods serviced in any country that offers AppleCare+ indicating that the service has been extended to international travellers.

Up until now users were only eligible to get their iOS device serviced from the country from which it was purchased. This means that if a user was travelling abroad and there was a need for a service he / she had no option but to wait till he / she was back from the trip.

According to the change in AppleCare+ plans travellers will be covered under AppleCare+ and they will also receive more options when it comes to repairs and replacements. However, AppleCare+ local rules of the country, if any, will still apply to travellers.

Some of the countries where this plan will be applicable include Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States among others.

The FAQ page also notes that global repair coverage is offered under “AppleCare Protection Plan for Mac, for iPod, for Apple TV, and for Apple Display”. However, as in the case of AppleCare+ above, the service provided will be based on the rules of the service in that country.
