BlackBerry decides to pull the plug on music, video sections on its app store

BlackBerry has decided to close the music and video sections on BlackBerry world from July 21, just a day after it signed a deal with Amazon through which BlackBerry 10.3 customers will be gain access to over 240,000 Android apps.

BlackBerry assured that it will continue offering music and video services through third party apps. BlackBerry also said that users who have downloaded content from those two sections will have the content available after the July 21 deadline.

“While BlackBerry World will continue to offer music and video services via third party applications — again giving you more choices for your valued content — we will be closing the music and video sections of our store on July 21st,” said BlackBerry.

The deal with Amazon will ensure that BlackBerry customers will finally gain access to popular apps like Netflix, Candy Crush Saga, Minecraft, among other which were otherwise missing from BlackBerry World.
