Linux 3.15-rc7 released
Linus Torvalds has released Linux 3.15-rc7 on schedule just days after releasing Linux 3.17-rc6, which overshot its release cycle.
“It’s just a few days after -rc6, but as expected, there were some pending stuff for when I got back home, so you should think of this as being the “normal” release, and rc6 just having been oddly delayed by my travel”, notes Torvalds in the release announcement.
Torvalds notes that rc7 packs mostly networking changes – mostly drivers – but there are various smaller changes related to drm, scheduler, perf, nfsd, and afs among other things.
There have been regressions that have been emerged during the testing of the latest kernel, but all in all the kernel is coming out well. Final release of Linux 3.15 is expected to be released sometime in first half of June.
