TAG Heuer has announced a new smartphone it calls Meridiist Infinite featuring ‘Perpetual Power Reserve’ using which it can charge itself under sunlight or even an artificial light source.
To be available from July this year Tag Heuer will only be selling 1911 units of Meridiist Infinite, the company has revealed.
Meridiist Infinite’s display is constructed using sapphire crystals and photovoltaic components spliced between the phone’s LCD display and sapphire crystal glass. This allows for charging of the phone under natural light or artificial light.
The smartphone’s solar panel is powered by Wysips technology – a creation of Sunpartner Technologies, a French company. Titanium Grade 5, Carbon and Rubber have been used to construct Meridiist Infinite.
In terms of other specifications, the smartphone doesn’t impress with its 5-megapixel camera, 8GB internal storage, and 2.4-inch LCD display. There is no word on the mobile platform it runs out of the box, so it’s a wait and watch.
